COVID Wedding and Events Safety Tips

Well Friends, it seems like COVID 19 is going to be around a lot longer than we anticipated. I know we are all ready to get back to having our special events. As we are slowly coming out of quarantine and beginning to have weddings and events, it is important that we continue to be safe and do our part to stop the spread of the deadly virus. Below are some COVID wedding and event safety tips.

Prior to the Event

Set the Expectation

Prior to the event make sure your guest know what precautions that you are taking to ensure their safety. You also want to let your guest know what you expect from them during your event. You can include your COVID Safe precautions with your invitation or on your wedding website. Your guest may feel more comfortable attending your event if they know what the precautions in advance. If you are hosting your event at a venue, be sure to check with the venue to see what precautions they have in place and include that information as well. Also be sure to check your states guidelines as well as the CDC guidelines.

Event Day

Arrival

As guest are arriving and waiting to enter the venue, make sure they are staying 6ft apart. You can create a cute sticker or decal to place on the floor. You can really get creative with this. It can be a cute distraction while your guest are waiting. Be sure to have a COVID safe sanitation station near the entrance. You can include hand sanitizer, masks, disposable wipes and spray. Following the sanitation should be a temp check. Checking temperatures will add another level of comfort for you, the venue and your guest. If you are giving out favors at your event, these sanitation items can serve as a favor. If you have a guest book, be sure to have clearly marked pen holders to keep the clean pens separate from the dirty pens. You should also have an attendant there to clean the pens as needed. Avoid a table to pick up place cards and place them at the tables instead. Use a large seating chart so guest know their table assignment. A large sign is also a great option for the program as well.

Food and Beverage

Seat family members together. You can get really creative with your seating skip the traditional rounds of 8 or 10 for each table. Mix it up and spread your tables apart to ensure they are 6ft apart.

Serve as many individually wrapped and/or single serve items that you can. Avoid buffets, family style meals and menu cards. Make one or two menus for each table and place them near the centerpiece in a nice frame.

Entertainment

Make sure you have a large enough dance floor or area so guest can spread out. This is another area where you can place cute stickers or decals. Have the DJ or band make a few announcements throughout the night to remind guest of the COVID safety precautions.

if you have a toast, speaker or Q&A Session, make sure the microphones are being disinfected between each use.

Departure

Try to avoid guest congregating in small areas and mingling before exiting the venue. Try to keep the crowd moving. For weddings, if the couple is adamant about having send-off, try to choose something that does not encourage guest to be in close proximity or handling between guests. can have cold sparklers fountains instead.

BE SAFE!
