September 24th is my Nana’s birthday! She is celebrating her 92nd birthday in heaven this year.
Each year on her birthday and the anniversary of her death, I light a white candle in her memory.
As a child, I remember that anytime someone would stop by my grandmother’s house during the holiday’s or if she learned they were celebrating a special occasion she gave them a gift. She kept a collection of gifts in her bedroom closet just in case.She would get up from her big leather chair, walk down the hall, come back with a gift and say ” I know it’s not much but this is for you” Their face would light up. They felt the love.I like to think that I get my love for gift giving, tradition and hospitality from my grandmother.
